The Heat of the Visits

Well folks, especially for those of you not into coming to Thailand to visit Hostel D&J as it has been coined, this is the peak of the excitement. We will have four visitors in the house on Saturday. A festive Rice Barge dinner cruise planned for the evening. The head count last night was three, only for one night, as Brad and Leah came to town in preparation for their return flight to Halifax.
Their arrival has caused our Project Group to have a review meeting to assess "Our Successes" and "Things We Can Improve On". The review has resulted in the Operations Team realigning resources for visitor arrival. It appears that the outsourced group used to collect and deliver the guests to Hawaii Tower have a problem fulfilling their mandate. It appears that this breakdown in communication is brought on by exactly that. We can't communicate to the local cab drivers. The collected Brad and Leah successfully from the Airport Express train at Makkasan Station but were incapable of finding our Soi and therefore resulting in additional cash outlays by our patrons to said outsourcing organization. Unacceptable.
Operations acted quickly in cancelling any future transactions with said organization. A new Process was crafted forthwith and utilizing the approved templates and methodology. The new Process is now operational.
Which really means that we are going to use our driver to go to the airport to pick up new arrivals. He earns a little extra cash instead of the cabbie and you get to see a familiar face at the airport. You will be wisked away directly to D&J's. No fuss no muss.
So just so you can keep your list of visitors straight this is how it is. Paul has been in the house since Wednesday. He arrived about 40 minutes after my brothers flight departed BKK for Calgary. His wife Peggy arrives on Saturday morning from Australia. Shelly and Carolyn are being picked up as I write this.

Golf is back in the news for me. I am striving to play three times a week at a minimum. So far so good. I will also take a mini golf lesson at a local hi-tech golf shop next week to try and improve the game a little.
I have hooked up with a group at BGC that has a regular tee time around 11:15. No need to book a time anymore as these guys have a standing time for two groups (up to ten golfers) in that time slot.
Mostly Americans that are living in BKK. Retired, or just tired of living anywhere else. Some still run their businesses at arms length but it seems to be a good fit for me for now. I play every Monday and Thursday with this group and Wednesday on my own. I also have a few invites from within the group to play other courses that they are members at, so there is a little variety offered. They have an outing coming up for Pattaya, the date keeps moving around but it will be come together and I will get to play some of the nicer courses in Pattaya. Cool

Here's the thing. In Thailand you can be anyone. Anyone you want to be. It's kinda like Vegas ya know what I mean. No one knows who you really are and with a little money, some talk............... you can be anyone you wanna be.
I have a story about a gentleman I met here and I am looking for the right way to say it, or spell it out to you. But first I need to do a little more digging because it sounds so over the top that it may be true. I want to see if I can find out more. Could be the biggest 7 degrees story every told by this rugged adventurer. More to come.

Deeds is off to pick up Shelley and Carolyn at the airport using the above noted process in a few minutes. So we will end up out on the deck later tonight, wine glasses in hand. (Yes we will raise a glass for you Tammy).
We are both anticipating a great couple of weeks. Wow this is going to be fun.
As you can see we also upgraded the ol beanery with the addition of some great deck chairs. Makes the wine quaffing so much easier. Hehehehe.

  2. Glad to know you will have all of the wrinkles ironed out before our arrival later in the year!! The thought of all of you together drinking wine on that beautiful deck makes me just a little bit sad - only because I am not there. But I am so happy you have so many loved ones from home around you. Enjoy – and keep us posted..
